Rapid Bucharest is anticipating a new offer for Albion Rrahmani, a target for Rangers, in the coming days, according to Sorin Chiriac.

Chiriac reported on Instagram on July 29 that the Kosovan striker was absent from the match against Petrolul not only due to fitness issues but also because a bid is expected from an unnamed club.

He noted, as shared by Rangers Review’s Derek Clark via X, that Rapid Bucharest is seeking €6 million (£5.05 million) plus a 20-percent sell-on clause for Rrahmani’s transfer.

Chiriac had previously discussed Rrahmani’s exceptional first touch with Clark for Rangers Review on May 21, praising the 24-year-old’s “top, top quality.”

Despite this, the latest update indicated that Rrahmani was unlikely to move before the transfer window closed, adding to the frustration at Ibrox where finding additional attacking options has been challenging.

Manager Neil Lennon and minority shareholder Victor Angelescu had previously stated that they had no plans to sell Rrahmani, as reported by the Daily Record on July 15. This was particularly disappointing for Rangers fans, as they had been reported to be in a strong position to sign him a month earlier, according to Football Scotland on June 17.

It remains unclear whether Rangers are still in the running or if the interest comes from a competing club. Meanwhile, the Daily Record noted on July 29 that the sale of Sam Lammers to FC Twente had potentially freed up funds for a move for Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland. Philippe Clement is reportedly engaged in discussions about whether to pursue Shankland or refocus on Rrahmani if the bid comes from Glasgow.
