Journalist Andrea Losapio reported early on 24 July that the 27-year-old striker is “one step away” from leaving Glasgow Rangers to join Dutch club FC Twente.

Lammers struggled to make an impact at Ibrox under manager Philippe Clement and was loaned to Dutch side FC Utrecht in January. During his loan spell, he scored 11 goals in 20 appearances, attracting interest from FC Utrecht for a permanent move. However, Utrecht could not meet his wage demands, unlike FC Twente, which is now close to securing his signature.

Losapio provided an update on Lammers, stating the striker will sign a three-year deal with FC Twente and that Rangers will receive a fee of around £4.2 million for the transfer. On X, he wrote: “More on Sam Lammers deal: Rangers will sell him with an offer in the area of 5M€ then Lammers will sign a 3 years contract with FC Twente.”

This transfer is seen as a masterstroke for Rangers, who initially signed Lammers from Atalanta for about £3.5 million. Despite his lackluster performance, his impressive loan stint has allowed Rangers to sell him for a profit. The club plans to reinvest the transfer fee to sign a quality striker in the coming weeks. Clement has indicated that more player sales are expected before new signings can be made.
