Coventry City have signed Sweden international goalkeeper Oliver Dovin.

The 22-year-old joins the Sky Blues from Hammarby for an undisclosed fee, reported to be nearly £1.6 million upfront, making it one of the highest fees for a Swedish top-flight goalkeeper. Dovin has signed a four-year contract, pending FA and international clearance.

Dovin will join the squad on their return from Spain on Monday and may debut non-competitively for the club at Stevenage on Tuesday night.

Manager Mark Robins expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting that the club has been monitoring Dovin for some time. Robins praised Dovin’s goalkeeping skills, noting his physical presence, shot-stopping ability, and ball distribution.

Dovin is expected to take the No.1 shirt, previously worn by Simon Moore, who left for Sunderland on a free transfer this summer. Current goalkeepers Ben Wilson and Brad Collins will retain their numbers, 13 and 40 respectively. Both kept clean sheets in a recent goalless draw with Getafe CF.

Dovin, a highly-rated shot-stopper, came through the ranks at Hammarby, making his senior debut in December 2020. He has made 84 appearances for the club, with 28 clean sheets, and was part of the squad that won the Swedish domestic cup in 2021 and competed in the 2021/22 UEFA Conference League Play-Offs. He became the first-choice keeper in 2022 and earned his first full international cap in January 2023, playing against Iceland and later Estonia.
