Rangers’ recruitment efforts have stalled recently, leaving Philippe Clement to work with the current squad.

To facilitate new signings, the club needs to offload some players, but deciding who to sell isn’t straightforward for the manager.

Ianis Hagi’s name frequently surfaces in transfer discussions. According to Romanian outlet Spot Media, Hagi has made a decision regarding his future at Rangers.

Ianis Hagi makes decision on Rangers future

The talented playmaker, fresh off a strong performance in the European Championships, has returned to training with Rangers, but his absence has been noticeable, as evidenced by the missed opportunities in their match against Manchester United at Murrayfield.

When questioned about Hagi’s situation, head coach Philippe Clement noted, “There are things I prefer to discuss directly with the player, not publicly. I don’t like to address transfers and rumors in the media. These matters are internal club discussions. We’ll see what happens, as it involves more than just my decision—it’s also up to the club.”

This implies that whether Hagi stays or leaves may not solely depend on the manager’s decision but also on the club’s stance. If a suitable offer comes in, Hagi could be permitted to leave, but another loan move is unlikely.

Hagi, who has two years left on his current contract, prefers either a permanent transfer or to stay with Rangers. He believes that his previous issues in Spain were partly due to the lack of a permanent deal, which impacted his performance and game time.

With interest in Hagi following the Euros and a transfer fee of around £3m, Rangers might decide to sell if a suitable bid is made, potentially from Fiorentina, who are considering bringing back their former player. If he remains, Clement would benefit from having a top-quality player on the right side of the attack, as Hagi can be a game-changer when at his best. However, current speculation suggests that he might not feature prominently at Ibrox this season.
