Carlton Palmer is thrilled with Sheffield Wednesday’s recent transfer activity, calling it a “fantastic” move for the club.

Sheffield Wednesday have made a splash in the Championship with their proactive and impressive transfer dealings. Under Danny Rohl, who recently extended his contract, the Owls have secured nine new signings and renewed the contracts of four key players over the past five weeks.

Despite concerns about their out-of-contract players, with Will Vaulks and Cameron Dawson opting to leave, the renewal of Rohl’s contract and the club’s survival in the league have led Barry Bannan, Josh Windass, Liam Palmer, and Dominic Iorfa to commit to new deals.

Di’Shon Bernard, whose future was uncertain while participating in the Copa America, has also signed a new contract. Fans are thrilled with these developments, and Palmer has praised the club’s business as outstanding.

Palmer says it’s ‘no surprise’ that Di’Shon Bernard wants to remain with the club.

In an interview with Football League World, he remarked, “It’s excellent news for Sheffield Wednesday that Di’Shon Bernard has extended his contract.

“Bernard, who joined the Owls last season from Manchester United on a one-year deal, made 36 appearances across all competitions. His renewal is a significant boost for the club and Danny Rohl. He’s become a fan favorite, and it’s no surprise that he chose to stay. With aspirations to improve next season and potentially compete for a play-off spot or even better, keeping Bernard is a major win.

“Additionally, it’s exciting to see Bernard included in the squad’s upcoming pre-season camp in Germany. His continued presence will be invaluable, especially given his crucial role in the team’s successful fight for survival last season. This renewal is another important step forward for both Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday.”

The defender is essential for Sheffield Wednesday, making him irreplaceable for the team.

While Sheffield Wednesday may still pursue additional signings, Di’Shon Bernard’s contract renewal feels like a crucial final piece for Danny Rohl.

Rohl has demonstrated his ability to attract top talent to Hillsborough, and retaining Bernard was likely preferable to finding a replacement. The centre-back showed strong form under Rohl and, with significant development potential, could greatly enhance the team’s performance this season.

However, Bernard will need more support from quality players around him. Rohl has indicated that he aims to bring in another centre-back this summer to bolster the defense.
