Norwegian Cruise Line Expands Fleet with Delivery of Norwegian Aqua and Milestone for Norwegian Luna.

 

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has recently celebrated significant advancements in its fleet expansion. On March 13, 2025, NCL officially took delivery of the Norwegian Aqua from the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. This vessel marks the 20th addition to NCL’s fleet and is the inaugural ship in the Prima Plus Class.

The Norwegian Aqua introduces several groundbreaking features designed to enhance guest experiences. Among its highlights is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a pioneering fusion of a rollercoaster and waterslide, offering guests an exhilarating ride with panoramic ocean views. Additionally, the ship boasts the Aqua Game Zone, an interactive entertainment area featuring both classic arcade games and modern virtual reality experiences. Another notable addition is the Glow Court, a high-tech sports complex equipped with an interactive LED floor, transitioning from a sports venue by day to a vibrant nightclub by night.

In terms of dining, Norwegian Aqua debuts Sukhothai, NCL’s first Thai specialty restaurant, expanding the line’s diverse culinary offerings. The ship also continues popular dining venues such as Cagney’s Steakhouse and Le Bistro. Entertainment options include “Revolution: A Celebration of Prince,” an immersive tribute show developed in collaboration with Prince Legacy, LLC, and Primary Wave Music, delivering a theatrical concert experience featuring the icon’s chart-topping hits.

Following its European inaugural sailings, Norwegian Aqua is scheduled to embark on a transatlantic journey from Southampton, UK, on March 28, 2025. The ship will arrive in the U.S. on April 4, 2025, with inaugural events planned in Boston and New York City. The official christening ceremony is set for April 13, 2025, in Miami, where Emmy® Award-winning actor Eric Stonestreet, known for his role in “Modern Family,” will serve as the ship’s godfather.

a construction milestone for the Norwegian Luna, the fourth ship in the Prima Class series. The vessel recently underwent a successful float-out from its dry dock, marking the completion of its external construction. Norwegian Luna will now transition to interior outfitting, with an anticipated launch in spring 2026.

 

These developments underscore NCL’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the cruise industry, offering guests unparalleled experiences on the high seas.
