Hibernian’s interim manager, David Gray, emphasized the need for consistent performance levels despite making six changes to his starting lineup in their shock Premier Sports Cup loss to Kelty Hearts. Gray refused to blame the stand-ins for the team’s subpar performance, stressing that the collective effort fell short of the standard set in previous matches. The team failed to capitalize on numerous chances and conceded a sloppy goal from a short corner routine, which Gray attributed to a lack of quality and composure in the final third.

Gray explained that the changes were necessary due to the team’s demanding schedule, with three games in a week, and the need to manage players’ fitness, including resting goalkeeper Josef Bursik. He acknowledged that while the squad rotation provided opportunities for other players to step up, the overall performance did not meet expectations.

Gray called for the team to quickly regroup, learn from their mistakes, and be ready for the upcoming challenge against Peterhead. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards and proving that the loss to Kelty Hearts was just a temporary setback.
