Norwich New Era: One Done Deal, Former Manager Set for Return, Interests in Loaned Winger and New Interest in Forest Winger.

A new era is beginning at Norwich City with the appointment of Johannes Hoff Thorup as the club’s new head coach. The Canaries dismissed David Wagner in May after a 4-0 loss to Leeds United in the play-off semi-final second leg, and Thorup has stepped in as his replacement. Previously managing FC Nordsjaelland since January 2023, Thorup led them to a fourth-place finish in the Danish Superliga last season, though they missed out on European football.

Thorup has made one signing so far, bringing in defender Jose Cordoba from Bulgarian side Levski Sofia, with more transfers expected. Several senior players have departed, including Jon McCracken, Ben Gibson, Danny Batth, Dimitris Giannoulis, and Sam McCallum, while Vicente Reyes has been loaned to Cambridge United, and Christos Tzolis has permanently moved to Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Norwich will start their season against newly-promoted Oxford United on Saturday, August 10th. In other news, former Norwich manager David Wagner may return to management soon, as he is a candidate for the South Korea national team job, competing with Gus Poyet for the position.

Norwich winger Abu Kamara, who excelled during his loan at Portsmouth last season, is being considered by several clubs, including Portsmouth and Belgian side Anderlecht. However, Norwich is determined to keep Kamara, with Thorup likely to give him significant playing time next season.

Lastly, journalist Alan Nixon reported that Norwich and Luton Town are interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien on loan. O’Brien struggled at Forest and spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough. However, Norwich has dismissed these reports, as well as rumors of targeting Palmeiras defender Vanderlan.
