Birmingham City have shown interest in acquiring Cardiff City midfielder Andy Rinomhota, as reported on social media. According to transfer specialist Darren Witcoop, Birmingham, along with several other unnamed clubs, are considering a move for Rinomhota, who appears likely to depart from Cardiff City Stadium. The 27-year-old, who featured in Cardiff’s pre-season games, finds himself lower in the midfield hierarchy due to the surplus of options. Last season, Rinomhota spent half of his time on loan at Rotherham United, playing 16 matches.

Rinomhota lacks experience in League One football, having spent much of his career in the Championship. He came through Reading’s academy, making 139 appearances for the Royals before departing in 2022. Since joining Cardiff, he has played 48 games, contributing five assists. The Zimbabwe international is under contract with Cardiff City Stadium until summer 2025, and his potential departure follows the signings of Calum Chambers and Joe Willock.

With 250 club appearances to date, including 183 in the Championship, Rinomhota could be a solid addition if Birmingham City decides to pursue their interest further. Cardiff is scheduled to travel to Austria this week, which may provide insight into Rinomhota’s immediate future.

In other news, the status of reported target Scott Twine remains uncertain. Twine has been linked with Birmingham, Sunderland, and a possible return to Bristol City. According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, no suitable offers have been made to Burnley for Twine. Interested clubs awaited resolution of Burnley’s managerial situation, which has since been addressed with the appointment of Scott Parker.
