Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement suffered a lip laceration and contusion after being hit in the face by a pitch from Tigers right-hander Ty Madden on Monday.
Clement left the game early, walking off the field with Blue Jays trainer Jose Ministral before heading into the visitors’ clubhouse at Joker Marchant Stadium.
The 28-year-old appeared in 139 games for Toronto in 2024, providing strong defense at third base while hitting .263 with a .692 OPS and 12 home runs. He is expected to be the team’s primary third baseman for the 2025 season.
