Tigers surpass Red Sox and Blue Jays in poll forecasting potential destination for $100M All-Star.

While the Detroit Tigers have focused on one-year deals this offseason, such as the signings of Alex Cobb and Gleyber Torres, there’s a growing sense that bigger moves could be on the horizon.

Although the Tigers’ recent acquisitions have potential, they haven’t significantly altered the team’s playoff chances. However, if they were to land two-time All-Star Alex Bregman from the Houston Astros, it would certainly make a much stronger impact.

The Tigers are reportedly in the mix for Bregman, and while the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Mets are also in pursuit, they don’t appear to be aggressively chasing him. A recent poll on MLB Trade Rumors shows the Tigers as the fan favorite to sign Bregman, with 32.7% of the 6,527 votes cast in their favor. The Red Sox follow at 22.6%, with the Blue Jays and Mets at 15.9% and 12.3%, respectively.

Bregman, a two-time World Series champion with a 132 career OPS+, would be a major addition to Detroit’s roster. His relationship with Tigers manager A.J. Hinch, who managed Bregman in Houston, could also play a key role in convincing him to join the Tigers.

Whether the Tigers will ultimately sign Bregman remains to be seen, but with fans showing strong support for the move, it’s a question that could soon be answered.
