A former Tennessee quarterback unexpectedly emerged to lead Louisville to a bowl victory.

Former Tennessee QB Harrison Bailey’s journey has been a long and winding one, but he finally made his mark by leading Louisville to a dramatic 35-34 Sun Bowl victory over Washington. Bailey, who started his college career with the Vols in 2020 as a highly touted 4-star prospect, struggled to find his footing at Tennessee, appearing in just seven games and throwing for one touchdown. After transferring to UNLV, his college career didn’t gain much traction, either.

However, Bailey’s big moment came in the 2024 season finale when he got the starting nod for Louisville after Tyler Shough opted out. In a surprising turn of events, Bailey threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns, delivering a thrilling win for the Cardinals. Despite his earlier struggles, this victory, and the way he stepped up when needed, must be incredibly rewarding for Bailey, who, at one point, seemed destined for a brighter future but had to fight through adversity to get here.
