The Toronto Blue Jays are aware of the need to improve their offense this offseason. While much of the attention has been on addressing pitching, the team recognizes the importance of upgrading their lineup. A controllable outfielder could provide an affordable option to do so. Taylor Ward, who is on the trade block, fits the bill. The Blue Jays are looking for a left fielder to complement Daulton Varsho in center and George Springer in right. Ward is under team control for both 2025 and 2026, offering Toronto a two-year window with him. He’s set to earn just under $9 million in 2025, though he’ll see a pay raise in 2026. Here’s a potential trade scenario that could send Ward to Toronto.

Trade Details:

  • Toronto Blue Jays Acquire: OF Taylor Ward
  • Los Angeles Angels Acquire: 3B/OF Charles McAdoo (Blue Jays No. 9 prospect), RHP Landen Maroudis (Blue Jays No. 14 prospect)

This trade would send two of Toronto’s top 15 prospects to the Angels in exchange for Taylor Ward. McAdoo is a power hitter with defensive versatility, while Maroudis is a young pitcher with a fastball that reaches 95 mph. Although Maroudis is currently projected as a reliever, his potential for growth at just 20 years old leaves room for development. For the Blue Jays, making this move signals their willingness to trade prospects to strengthen their roster and build a contender, which could also help in securing Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s long-term commitment and preventing him from entering free agency.
