The music world was stunned by the tragic death of Liam Payne in Buenos Aires last month. The former One Direction member was found unresponsive after falling from his third-floor hotel balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.
The incident followed an episode where Payne became aggressive and experienced a seizure in the hotel’s reception area.
Toxicology report reveals drugs in Payne’s system
An autopsy revealed that Payne had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death. Toxicology results showed a combination of cocaine, crack, benzodiazepines, and tusi, also known as pink cocaine.
A month after Liam Payne’s death, new details continue to emerge, with TMZ citing a police report that sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to the report, Liam had been trying to leave his hotel room and had even threatened to use the balcony to escape.
Further evidence supports this theory: when his body was discovered, he was found with a bag tied to his shoulder—an item not seen when he was earlier escorted out of the lobby. Additionally, he was wearing a cap, which suggests he may have been attempting to leave the hotel.
Payne fell while attempting to climb down from his hotel room.
Liam tried to descend from the balcony of his third-floor room to the second-floor balcony, intending to reach the ground and escape the hotel. This theory, supported by a police report cited in the media, suggests that two days after the artist’s death, a hotel employee discovered a brown rucksack with a note reading “For Liam” in the room directly beneath his. The rucksack also contained several pills and a bottle of Jack Daniels.
In September, he had already escaped from a balcony at a house.
TMZ also highlights a previous incident. In September, Payne caused concern for his bodyguard, who had to prevent him from leaving a rental house in Florida after he had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol. On that occasion, Liam managed to escape by using a garden hose to climb down from the balcony to the ground.
The late singer was laid to rest after a private service in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, last Wednesday. The funeral was attended by his former bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik, as well as his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, former partner Cheryl, and other celebrities.
