Lions Injury Report: Updates on Key Players After Colts Game
The Detroit Lions endured several injuries during Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, with three significant offensive contributors impacted. Here’s the latest on their status:
Kalif Raymond’s Foot Injury
Wide receiver Kalif Raymond injured his foot during a punt return and was seen limping on the sidelines before being carted off. He was ruled out in the third quarter. As the Lions’ primary punt returner, Raymond was replaced by Amon-Ra St. Brown.
After the game, head coach Dan Campbell described Raymond’s injury as potentially the most serious of the day.
David Montgomery’s Shoulder Update
Running back David Montgomery exited in the third quarter with a shoulder injury after a 14-yard reception where he broke multiple tackles. Initially listed as questionable to return, Montgomery later appeared on the sidelines with his helmet but did not re-enter the game. He seemed optimistic post-game, though his status for Thanksgiving remains uncertain.
Taylor Decker’s Knee and Ankle Issue
Left tackle Taylor Decker left briefly with a knee and ankle issue but returned to the game before being pulled late. After the game, Decker downplayed the injury, stating he intends to play on Thanksgiving.
“I’ll be alright. I’ll be good to go,” Decker reassured reporters.
Carlton Davis’ Knee Injury
Cornerback Carlton Davis sustained a knee injury in the second half and did not return. However, he was seen using the exercise bike on the sidelines during the fourth quarter and sounded hopeful post-game about avoiding a long-term issue.
Thanksgiving Outlook
Decker has confidently declared his availability for the Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears, and Montgomery appears eager to face his former team. However, Raymond’s injury seems the most severe, making him less likely to suit up. Davis’ status remains uncertain due to the short turnaround, though his post-game comments suggest the injury isn’t severe.
Head coach Dan Campbell provided a cautious update:
“I feel okay about three of those guys (Decker, Montgomery, Davis). Leaf (Raymond) could be a little bit more serious. But even with that, it doesn’t mean any of those guys will be ready for Thursday. I just don’t know.”
The Lions will continue to monitor these injuries closely as they prepare for their Thanksgiving showdown.
