Max Fried, a fan-favorite and unrestricted free agent, is at a crossroads with the Atlanta Braves. While the Braves are expected to make him their top priority this offseason, it’s unclear if the feeling is mutual. Fried is projected to secure a lucrative deal ranging from $150 million to $175 million, making him a highly sought-after player in free agency.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer recently ranked Fried’s top 10 potential landing spots, with the Toronto Blue Jays emerging as the frontrunner, ahead of the Braves, New York Mets, and other teams. Rymer noted that if Toronto pursues Fried as their marquee signing, it would bolster their rotation significantly, creating a formidable lineup alongside Kevin Gausman, José Berríos, Chris Bassitt, and others. However, Rymer cautioned that while the Blue Jays’ focus on pitching has yielded mixed results in recent years, Fried’s addition could change that narrative.

The Blue Jays have been aggressive in pursuing top free agents and are also in the mix for Juan Soto. Should they miss out on Soto, signing Fried to anchor their rotation would be a significant upgrade and could position Toronto as a strong contender in the American League East. With plans to spend big this offseason, Fried could be the key piece in their effort to reclaim division dominance.

For the Braves, retaining Fried remains a priority, but his ultimate decision will shape their offseason plans.
