The Toronto Blue Jays are focusing on improving their starting pitcher rotation for the 2025 season, with free agent Blake Snell emerging as a top target. While the team’s rotation last season wasn’t terrible, it fell short of being a reliable contender, highlighting the need for a high-caliber pitcher who could serve as a potential No. 1 or No. 2 starter.

Snell, fresh off a solid season with the San Francisco Giants despite dealing with injuries, posted a 3.12 ERA in 104 innings and threw his first career no-hitter. Although his numbers weren’t quite as impressive as his 2023 Cy Young-winning season, where he posted a 2.25 ERA and 3.44 FIP, they still demonstrate his capabilities on the mound.

MLB insider Jim Bowden predicts Snell will secure a three-year deal worth $105 million, especially after opting out of his two-year, $62 million contract with the Giants. The New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and Giants are expected to be among the contenders for Snell’s services.

If the Blue Jays manage to sign Snell, they would significantly bolster their rotation, forming a formidable one-two punch alongside Kevin Gausman, something they haven’t had since Robbie Ray’s time with the team.
