Starting Friday, fans of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox will have access to a new subscription-based streaming service, the Chicago Sports Network (CHSN), as announced on Thursday.

CHSN, launched in October as a replacement for NBC Sports Chicago, now serves as the broadcast home for the three teams following the expiration of their contracts with the now-closed regional sports network.

Subscribers can choose between packages starting at $19.99 per month for access to one team or $29.99 per month for full coverage of all three teams’ games. A free seven-day trial is available for fans to explore their preferred package, according to a press release.

“This announcement is a significant step in our commitment to serving Chicago sports fans and providing innovative ways to connect with them,” said CHSN President Jason Coyle.

The launch addresses a gap for Comcast Xfinity customers, who have been unable to watch Blackhawks and Bulls games this season.

CHSN’s streaming service will be available on its app for iOS and Android or via web browsers. It includes a “CHSN Live Game Center” with live game streams, real-time highlights, and pre- and post-game coverage.

The network is a collaboration between the Blackhawks, Bulls, White Sox, and Standard Media, based in Nashville. CHSN’s availability spans platforms like DIRECTV, U-Verse, Astound RCN, Fubo, and digital antennas but excludes Comcast Xfinity, the largest cable provider in the Chicago area.

Comcast has yet to comment on potential negotiations with CHSN. Meanwhile, Xfinity customers received an $8.85 credit on their Regional Sports Network fees due to NBC Sports Chicago’s discontinuation, with adjustments continuing until the RSN fee is revised.

The closure of NBC Sports Chicago reflects broader challenges faced by regional sports networks amid evolving consumer habits and the shift away from traditional cable bundles.
