Lewis Hamilton sent a brief three-word message to Max Verstappen after the Red Bull driver’s impressive victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Verstappen celebrated his return to winning form with a remarkable drive, going from 17th to 1st, marking his first win since the Spanish Grand Prix in June. His signature phrase “simply lovely” was heard again as he triumphed at Interlagos.
Despite a challenging qualifying session affected by rain that left him in 12th place after a late red flag, Verstappen overcame a five-place grid penalty to start in 17th. He executed a masterful performance, making his way through the pack and benefiting from a well-timed red flag during the race, which allowed him to secure second place and a free pit stop.
After the race, Hamilton congratulated Verstappen on Instagram, acknowledging his incredible drive despite his own disappointing 10th-place finish. Verstappen replied with gratitude, and he received praise from others in the paddock, including Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg.
This victory significantly narrows the gap to the World Championship, with Verstappen now leading Lando Norris by 62 points. He expressed relief and satisfaction with the win, highlighting the challenges his team has faced but reaffirming their commitment to improvement and competitiveness in the remaining races.
