Collingwood has confirmed the signing of former St Kilda forward Tim Membrey on a two-year contract as a delisted free agent.
The announcement came on the first day of the three DFA windows, marking Membrey’s move to his third club shortly after his departure from the Saints.
At 30, Membrey is a three-time leading goalkicker at Moorabbin, finishing this year with 30 goals, ranking second in the Saints’ 2024 goal tally. Over his career, he has scored 293 goals across 178 games in the red, white, and black, coming just short of the club’s top 10 all-time scorers.
Originally drafted by Sydney in 2012, Membrey played only one game at the AFL level during his two seasons in NSW before being delisted and returning to Victoria to join St Kilda.
Membrey’s addition to Collingwood strengthens their forward line for the 2025 season, joining Brody Mihocek, Dan McStay, Bobby Hill, Lachie Schultz, and Beau McCreery in attack.
“We are pleased to welcome Tim to Collingwood,” said Justin Leppitsch, Collingwood’s Head of Football Strategy, Innovation, and List Management. “We’ve been in talks with Tim for some time and see him as a key asset to our list. Beyond his skills, Tim brings leadership and strong character that will enhance our program. We’re excited to welcome Tim, his wife Emily, and their children Wren and Beau to our Collingwood family when pre-season training starts in November.”
Membrey is Collingwood’s third acquisition this off-season, following the additions of Harry Perryman (GWS) and Daniel Houston (Port Adelaide) through free agency and trade. The Magpies hold picks 52, 55, and 58 in the 2024 National Draft, scheduled for November 20-21.
