The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to face off against the New York Yankees in the World Series starting on October 25. This season is crucial for the Dodgers, as many of their top players are heading into free agency after it ends.

In his predictions for Dodgers’ free agents, Zach Pressnell of FanSided forecasted a potential return of Teoscar Hernández to the Toronto Blue Jays.

“(Jack) Flaherty, Hernández, and (Joe) Kelly might all be returning to their former teams,” Pressnell wrote. “The Toronto Blue Jays are in need of a center fielder, and Hernández aligns well with their culture, payroll, and competitive spirit.”

Hernández, who began his MLB career with the Blue Jays before being traded to the Seattle Mariners and later signing with the Dodgers on a one-year, $23.5 million deal (with $8.5 million deferred), enjoyed a standout season, earning an All-Star title and hitting a career-high 33 home runs.

According to Spotrac, Hernández is projected to sign a three-year, $71 million deal in free agency. Though the Dodgers are keen to keep him, they may prioritize a shortstop, possibly pursuing Willy Adames or another top-tier option.

Hernández, an All-Star for the Blue Jays in 2021, could see a return to the team as a “full-circle” moment. He has proven his postseason value, hitting .333 with two homers in the NLDS against the San Diego Padres, which could further boost his appeal for a long-term deal.
