West Virginia is approaching its second and final bye week of the 2024 season, but before they can rest, the Mountaineers must power through a couple more games while dealing with key injuries. Head coach Neal Brown has hinted that standout players, such as defensive lineman T.J. Jackson and safety Aubrey Burks, may be questionable for the upcoming game against Kansas State. While Brown refrained from disclosing specifics on his recent radio show, he acknowledged that a few players on the defensive side will likely miss the game.

On the offensive front, wide receiver Jaden Bray will be sidelined again, but the offense remains close to full strength. Brown emphasized that despite injuries, the team’s expectation is for whoever steps in to be equally productive, creating opportunities for younger players like true freshman Elijah Kinsler, who may see increased playing time on the defensive line. Jackson’s potential absence, along with Edward Vesterinen’s continued unavailability, could thin the defensive front significantly.

Brown also noted that Kansas State, having faced a similarly challenging schedule, may be dealing with their own injury concerns ahead of the matchup.
