Oct 13, 2024 #DALLAS COWBOYS

The Detroit Lions return to Texas on Sunday, October 13, for a highly anticipated matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. After a shaky 1-2 start, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his team have bounced back with two straight wins over the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Meanwhile, the Lions head into the game with a 3-1 record, having only lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This game carries extra drama due to the controversial ending of their last meeting. The controversy centered around whether Lions left tackle Taylor Decker had properly reported as eligible to catch a pass on a two-point conversion with 23 seconds left. Though Decker caught the ball, the officials flagged him for illegal touching, nullifying the play.

Prescott vividly recalls that moment and is eager to face the Lions’ “personality” once again.

Dak Prescott: ‘We’re Going to Get This Win’

Speaking to reporters on October 10, Prescott expressed confidence ahead of the game. “We’re going into a bye week after this, so we’re going to get this win and then enjoy the bye,” he said. Prescott also reflected on last season’s controversial ending, noting that a flag on the Cowboys was also called incorrectly. “I expect them to come out with the same personality they’ve had. It’s a defense we’re familiar with, having played them in recent seasons.”

 ‘It’s a Grudge Match’

Excitement is building for the Lions vs. Cowboys rematch, with Cowboys staff writer Patrik Walker describing the game as a “grudge match of the highest order.” He highlighted the Lions’ lingering frustration over the officiating in their last encounter and the challenge posed by quarterback Jared Goff and Detroit’s offense. Despite this, Walker predicts the Cowboys will edge out a win, 30-27, in a high-scoring shootout.

Fellow Cowboys writer Tommy Yarrish also chimed in, noting that while Dallas has won six consecutive games against Detroit since 2015, the 2024 version of the Lions will be their toughest challenge yet.
