In a recent press conference, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis announced changes to the team’s power play setup. While fans have been calling for more time for Lane Hutson, the latest adjustment involves another exciting young player—though not Hutson, at least for now.
St-Louis revealed that Oliver Kapanen, back in the lineup, will replace Alex Barré-Boulet on the power play.

Fans continue to discuss Lane Hutson’s future, and it seems like only a matter of time before he replaces Mike Matheson on the first unit.
Kapanen, who will step into a bigger role against the Ottawa Senators, already has a point in his debut despite just 10 minutes of ice time.
St-Louis also made three other lineup adjustments for tonight’s game.
Kapanen, 21 years old, stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds, and was the Canadiens’ 64th overall pick in 2021. He tallied 34 points in 51 games last season in Finland’s top league and added 14 points in 13 playoff games, marking significant progress in recent months.
Who do you think will win tonight? If Samuel Montembeault plays like he did in Game 1, the Canadiens could be in for a strong showing!
