Chris Davies anticipates that Birmingham City captain Krystian Bielik will be sidelined for “at least a few weeks” due to the ankle injury he suffered during Saturday’s loss to Charlton.

Bielik was absent from Blues’ 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday. Scott Wright scored twice, while Tomoki Iwata and Emil Hansson also found the net at The Croud Meadow.

After the game, Davies was asked about Bielik’s fitness and responded, “He suffered a bit of a nasty ankle knock at the weekend, so it seems he will be out for at least a few weeks.”

Iwata had to be substituted at halftime during Blues’ latest victory due to his own ankle injury. However, Davies appeared more optimistic regarding the Japanese midfielder’s situation.

“Tomoki experienced an ankle knock that he ultimately felt he couldn’t shake off,” added the Blues boss. “I’m not sure about the severity of it; it doesn’t appear too serious at first glance, but we’ll know more tomorrow.”

Bailey Peacock-Farrell has also been added to the Blues’ injury list after returning early from international duty with Northern Ireland due to a shoulder issue. Davies revealed that Peacock-Farrell has been dealing with this problem since the Peterborough United match, which, coincidentally, was the last time he played before Ryan Allsop took over as goalkeeper.

“He’s come back to us, and we’re currently assessing his condition,” Davies said. “He’s had this issue since the Peterborough game. He got clattered during that match, and after being evaluated, it’s clear he needs additional treatment. We’ll assess his situation over the next few days.”
