Liam Lawson hasn’t had the best start as he steps into Daniel Ricciardo’s role at the United States Grand Prix in Texas.
After a four-week hiatus, all eyes in the Formula 1 world will be on Lawson, following Ricciardo’s abrupt departure from the VCARB team.
The Red Bull team’s management of the situation surrounding the popular Australian driver has faced significant backlash, meaning Lawson is expected to experience added pressure when he takes over Ricciardo’s car.
It has now been revealed that the 22-year-old will face a 10-place grid penalty from his sprint qualifying performance due to an engine penalty.
Although Lawson will be logging his first official laps of the season, the power units initially assigned to Ricciardo are now under Lawson’s responsibility.
