The Brisbane Broncos have reportedly made a new signing for next season, adding a fullback to serve as a backup for their current No. 1, Reece Walsh. The future of head coach Kevin Walters is uncertain and could depend on the team’s performance early next season and whether they can secure a spot in the NRL Finals.
To strengthen their squad, the Broncos have turned to the QLD Cup competition, hoping to unearth new talent. According to The Courier Mail, the club has signed QLD Cup standout Latrell Siegwalt on a train-and-trial contract for next season, with the 23-year-old aiming to secure a full-time NRL deal. Siegwalt, who was named the QLD Cup’s Rookie of the Year, impressed with his speed, creativity, and attacking skills while playing for the Redcliffe Dolphins.
Originally from Wagga Wagga, Siegwalt previously had stints with the Canterbury Bulldogs and St George Illawarra Dragons but struggled with homesickness. Dolphins coach Ben Te’o shared that Siegwalt moved to Redcliffe around Christmas and, after initially wanting to return home, decided to commit and has since thrived, posting impressive stats despite never having completed a full pre-season.
