Derby County are set to return to Championship action this weekend, hosting Cardiff City at Pride Park for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, September 14th, as they aim to maintain their unbeaten start at home for the 2024/25 season.
The Rams have already secured home victories over Middlesbrough (1-0) and Bristol City before the international break. However, their struggles on the road have left them in 10th place, with two away defeats. Despite this, they sit in a strong position and could potentially move into a playoff spot with a win, depending on other results.
Cardiff City, on the other hand, are yet to record a win this season and currently find themselves at the bottom of the table, making Derby the favorites for the match.
Ahead of the clash, Derby manager Paul Warne has been dealing with a few fitness concerns. While Eiran Cashin has returned from injury, Ben Osborn and Kane Wilson are also nearing full fitness, with Osborn having trained all week and Wilson expected to return to training on September 12th. However, Tawanda Chirewa will miss the game due to concussion protocols.
Chirewa, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, is yet to make his league debut and was recently left on the bench during Derby’s match against Bristol City. Despite his absence, Kayden Jackson, who has been in excellent form with two goals and an assist in three league games, is expected to continue starting on the right wing.
