Daniel Kelly’s transfer to Millwall has encountered a setback due to delays in paperwork from Celtic, causing frustration at the London club. On March 3rd, 2024, during the Scottish Premiership match between Hearts and Celtic at Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh, the young midfielder had already completed his medical and signed his contract with Millwall earlier in the week. However, the finalization of his transfer has been delayed, preventing him from making his debut this weekend.

Kelly, whose contract with Celtic is set to expire on December 31, chose not to renew his deal, rejecting a £5,000-a-week offer to pursue new opportunities. His decision to leave the Scottish champions led to a change in his status within the team; after learning of his intentions, manager Brendan Rodgers quickly removed him from the first-team setup. Instead of joining the squad for their preseason tour in America, Kelly was relegated to training with the B team.

Celtic has earned approximately £400k from selling the midfielder this summer.
