A former striker for Sheffield United, Fulham, and Derby County, as well as a Canadian international, has urged Canada to consider new Cherries striker Daniel Jebbison for the upcoming World Cup.

Paul Peschisolido, who represented Canada, believes the national team should pursue Jebbison, a 21-year-old who, despite being born in Canada, has previously played for England at various youth levels.

Peschisolido told SportsBoom: “Daniel is definitely someone we should be eyeing. It’s now up to him to prove himself on the field, but if he performs well, I believe he has a strong chance of being selected.”

He added, “The World Cup is a massive opportunity for Canada, and we need to ensure that anyone eligible to play for us is given the chance to get involved.”

Peschisolido expressed concern that Canada has previously missed out on players who were eligible but chose to represent other nations instead.

Jebbison, who joined AFC Bournemouth this summer from Sheffield United, had a promising start, making his Premier League debut from the bench in a match against Nottingham Forest after Dominic Solanke’s departure. He had previously contributed during pre-season and was involved in a crucial late equalizer scored by Antoine Semenyo.

Jebbison’s potential move on loan is under consideration, but the decision was put on hold after Solanke’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. The 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted by Canada, the USA, and Mexico, could provide a significant opportunity for Jebbison to showcase his talents on a global stage.
