The Brisbane Broncos have terminated the contract of winger Corey Oates, following allegations of domestic violence. The 29-year-old player has been under police investigation for nearly a month, leading the club to take decisive action.

The Broncos released a statement confirming the termination, citing their commitment to upholding high standards of conduct and integrity. “The Brisbane Broncos have made the difficult decision to terminate Corey Oates’ contract, effective immediately. We are cooperating fully with the authorities and will continue to monitor the situation closely,” the club stated.

Oates, a key figure in the Broncos’ lineup since 2013, has not yet commented publicly on the allegations or the termination. His legal team is expected to address the media soon as the investigation continues.

This development marks a significant setback in Oates’ career, which includes multiple State of Origin appearances for Queensland. The Broncos will now proceed with their 2024 NRL campaign without one of their long-standing players.
