Paul Warne’s Derby County has been searching for a consistent goalscorer since the start of the transfer window. The Derby boss has signed two strikers this summer, Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates, but neither has had a 15-goal season in the Championship before. Last season, Jerry Yates scored eight goals in 43 games for Swansea City, while Kayden Jackson netted just three goals in 29 games for Ipswich Town. Derby’s biggest weakness is in the attacking department, with Warne fearing a lack of goals and admitting he wants to add another striker before the transfer window closes. Derby could sign several talented free-agent strikers to help bolster their attack.

Aaron Connolly

Connolly was most recently with Hull City, where he scored eight goals in 28 games before being released at the end of last season. The Irish international is now available for Derby County to sign and would add more firepower to their front line. At just 24 years old, the former Brighton and Middlesbrough attacker could be a valuable long-term addition for the Rams.

Tyrese Campbell

Tyrese Campbell was once expected to be the next big star at Stoke City, but things didn’t pan out for the 24-year-old. He was released after last season, having scored just three goals in 23 games during a year marred by injuries. Known for his pace, Campbell would bring much-needed speed to an ageing Derby County squad lacking quickness up front.

Wesley Moraes

It’s rare to find a former £22 million-plus Premier League player available as a free agent, but Wesley Moraes has faced numerous injury setbacks that have stalled his career. The Brazilian attacker joined Aston Villa from Club Brugge for £22 million in 2019 but soon suffered a severe cruciate ligament injury that kept him out for over a year. The 27-year-old most recently played for Stoke City, making 20 Championship appearances last season. A fresh start might be just what Moraes needs to revive his career.
