A proposed trade has the Toronto Maple Leafs acquiring Taylor Hall from the Chicago Blackhawks, aiming to bolster their forward lineup. According to the trade pitch on PuckPedia’s new tool, PuckGM, the Maple Leafs would receive Hall with $3 million of his salary retained, making his effective cap hit $3 million. In return, the Blackhawks would get a second-round pick in 2025 (from the Florida Panthers).
Hall, entering the final year of his contract, had a challenging season last year, managing only 4 points in 10 games due to a knee injury that required surgery. The Blackhawks, who are still in rebuilding mode, would benefit from acquiring a high draft pick. The deal would give Toronto a skilled forward to enhance their scoring capabilities, which was a concern during their playoff struggles last season.
The Maple Leafs have focused on strengthening their defense and goaltending this offseason, signing Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and goalie Anthony Stolarz, but have yet to address their forward group. Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving has acknowledged that the team still has work to do before the season begins.
