Alexander Zverev, who was knocked out of the 2024 Paris Olympics before the medal round, has unleashed a scathing critique of the event’s scheduling. Following his loss to Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals, Zverev didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration.
He was particularly upset about the tight 18-hour turnaround between his previous match and the quarter-final, calling the scheduling a “disgrace” in an interview with BILD.
While he conceded that Musetti was the superior player on the day, Zverev was clearly frustrated by the lack of adequate rest, which he felt hampered his performance.
He also revealed that he had been feeling unwell throughout the week, which added to his disappointment, especially given the rarity of the Olympics, occurring only once every four years. Zverev plans to undergo medical testing upon his return to Germany to assess his health, though he does not believe his recent knee issues are to blame.
