Last month, Yaser Asprilla’s agent Jonathan Herrera disclosed that a decision regarding the player’s future needs to be made, as he has attracted interest from multiple European clubs.
It now seems likely that the forward will leave Watford this summer, according to various reports.
Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra posted on X (formerly Twitter) indicating that the 20-year-old is on the verge of joining Stade Rennais. Sierra mentioned that Watford is set to receive £25 million, though it’s unclear if this figure includes bonuses, along with a percentage of a future transfer fee.
Asprilla is expected to sign a four-year contract with the Ligue 1 club, with an option for an additional year. French outlet Jeunes Footeux also reports on Stade Rennais’ interest in Asprilla. The forward, who scored six goals and provided eight assists for Watford last season, has reportedly reached an agreement with all parties involved.
The report further suggests that Asprilla’s departure from Watford is imminent, as he arrived in Rennes on Thursday to undergo medical tests with Stade Rennais. They also state that Watford will receive €18 million (approximately £15.3 million), which is nearly £10 million less than the figure mentioned by Sierra but seems more reasonable for the French club.
