Hearts are unlikely to sell Lawrence Shankland to Rangers this summer, despite transfer rumors linking him to Ibrox, according to Kevin Kyle.

Reports have indicated that Rangers are interested in bringing the Scotland international to Ibrox as Philippe Clement aims to strengthen his attacking options for the upcoming season. However, Hearts have stated that there has been no formal interest in Shankland, and Open Goal pundit Kyle believes the club would prefer to let him leave for free rather than sell him during this transfer window.

Kyle mentioned on the Open Goal YouTube channel that if Rangers couldn’t afford Shankland in January, they won’t be able to secure him now since Hearts are unlikely to sell him just for a short-term deal. He also noted that Shankland moving to Rangers is not on the cards.

The current focus at Rangers has been on acquiring young players like Connor Barron, who offers future potential at a lower cost, rather than investing in older players.

While Shankland could provide a significant boost compared to Rangers’ current options, such as Danilo or Cyriel Dessers, it seems unlikely that Hearts will part with him unless they receive an irresistible offer.
