Kevin Walters has reaffirmed that Adam Reynolds will continue as Brisbane Broncos captain for the foreseeable future, despite growing speculation about promoting Pat Carrigan to the role in 2025. The Broncos reached the NRL grand final last year and were considered strong contenders for the premiership this season. However, after losing seven of their last eight games and showing a lack of direction on the field, former Broncos player Gordon Tallis has called for a leadership change.

Tallis criticized Reynolds’ performance, suggesting that if the captain isn’t stepping up, it might be time to consider Carrigan for the role. He referenced his own experience with leadership changes, implying that a new captain could provide the necessary spark.

In response, Walters assured that Reynolds, at 34, remains the team’s captain as long as he is playing. Walters emphasized Reynolds’ significant influence when he performs well, citing a recent victory against Newcastle as an example of his impact.

Reynolds addressed the situation on Triple M, mentioning that the team had a candid meeting to reflect on their poor form. He expressed hope that their honest discussions would lead to an improved performance. Walters is optimistic that the team will deliver a strong showing in their upcoming game against the Titans.
