Swansea City attacker Mykola Kukharevych has caught the interest of Hibernian, as reported by the Edinburgh Evening News.
Swansea City signed Kukharevych in July of last year, but he has had a challenging time making an impact with the Championship side. Last season, he made 13 appearances in all competitions and scored just once.
Kukharevych, 23, is contracted to Swansea City until June 2026, but his future is uncertain this transfer window. He previously had a loan spell at Hibs, where he scored five goals in 15 appearances.
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Hibs are interested in bringing him back as they prepare for their opening match against St Mirren next weekend. Hibs have appointed former player David Gray as their new manager, replacing Nick Montgomery, who was sacked earlier.
Hibs interested in Swansea City player
Kukharevych enjoyed a successful stint at Hibs, so a return there could help him regain his scoring form. His time at Swansea City hasn’t gone as planned, and a fresh start at Hibs might be beneficial for him as he prepares for the upcoming season.
The former Ukraine youth international, who most recently represented his country at the Under-23 level, was signed by Swansea City to bolster their attacking options.
Kukharevych began his career with FC Volyn Lutsk and Rukh Lviv before moving to France in 2021, where he joined Troyes. However, he made only two appearances for Stade de l’Aube and was subsequently loaned out to OH Leuven and Hibs to gain experience.
Swansea City acquired him permanently, but it remains uncertain if he will stay with the club. Offloading Kukharevych could create space and funds for new signings.
Swansea manager Luke Williams has expressed a desire for his team to compete more effectively in the upcoming season. He mentioned to BBC Sport in May that the team needs to be strategic in player recruitment, acknowledging that they are not among the Championship’s elite. Williams emphasized the need for the team to be cohesive rather than relying on a few standout players and noted that they showed strong performance in the latter part of the previous season.
