Alan Hutton has suggested that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery might face a tricky selection dilemma if the club signs Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest this summer. The 24-year-old Gibbs-White is reportedly a more attainable target than Athletico Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

Villa have been active in the transfer market, already securing Ross Barkley, Enzo Barrenechea, and Amadou Onana to strengthen their midfield for the upcoming season. Despite acknowledging Gibbs-White’s high quality and impact last season, Hutton expressed doubts about Emery’s ability to integrate all the new signings into his starting lineup, even with the added demands of Champions League football.

Hutton commented to Villa News, “He’s an exceptional player who really carried Nottingham Forest at times last season, creating chances and scoring goals. It’s intriguing how Villa are constantly linked with new players. With a roster already bolstered, including the return of Emi Buendia and impressive performances from John McGinn, it’s unclear how Gibbs-White would fit in.”

Gibbs-White, known for his playmaking skills as a genuine number 10, would bring something different to Villa’s midfield. However, with Buendia’s return, McGinn’s form, and the addition of Jaden Philogene and Samuel Iling-Junior on the wings, finding a role for Gibbs-White could be challenging.

Emery might need to adjust his formation or make room in his squad, potentially requiring the departure of one or two players before making a concrete offer for Gibbs-White. The final decision on this potential signing may become clearer as the transfer window progresses.
