Derby County look set to further bolster their attacking options this summer.
The Rams are still focused on enhancing their squad depth ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, prioritizing both goalkeepers and attackers under Paul Warne’s direction.
Warne has stressed the importance of adding several midfielders this summer, a task he has accomplished with the signing of Ben Osborn, who brings extensive Premier League experience—an asset that will be vital for Derby County next season.
Goalkeepers remain a priority for Warne’s side, with Josh Vickers currently the only first-team goalkeeper. The search for another shot-stopper continues after the Rams moved on from their pursuit of Daniel Iversen.
In terms of attackers, Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates have been signed to provide a goalscoring boost for Derby County this season.
However, Warne is still looking to further increase his attacking options, with indications that Derby County are likely to secure one of their primary targets soon.
Derby County have emerged as the ‘front runners’ in the race to sign Karamoko Dembele.
Derby County have faced fierce competition from fellow Championship sides Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth in the pursuit of winger Karamoko Dembele. However, it has now been revealed that the Rams are reportedly the ‘front runners’ and have always been the leading contenders for the former Celtic winger, according to Darren Witcoop on X.
The 21-year-old had an emphatic loan spell at Blackpool last season, scoring eight goals and assisting 13 in League One, earning high praise from Tangerines defender James Husband, who called him ‘special,’ per Blackpool Gazette.
Dembele can play both out wide and through the middle, a versatility that would be crucial for Warne in boosting his squad’s depth.
Will Karamoko Dembele be able to perform at Championship level
Stade Brestois winger Siriki Dembélé has taken a while to find his groove after underperforming for the French outfit in the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season, where he failed to score, although his game time was severely limited.
However, his loan spell at Blackpool revealed a player finally on track to live up to his sky-high potential.
There is a clear reason why Dembélé is being tracked by several sides this summer, as there is ample evidence suggesting he has the ability to replicate last season’s form in the Championship.
With Warne and Derby County in pole position to acquire the 21-year-old, they must do everything in their power to secure the deal.
Dembélé can provide an extra dimension to Warne’s attack and could significantly enhance the new attacking partnership of Yates and Jackson.
