Adam Idah, a transfer target for Celtic, did not participate in this evening’s friendly against FC Magdeburg. The Championship side suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Bundesliga 2 team, with Idah’s absence from the matchday squad fueling speculation about a possible breakthrough in the transfer negotiations.

However, Norwich-based journalist Connor Southwell quickly dampened these rumors, clarifying on Twitter/X that Idah’s absence was due to an injury, and he was present at the game to support his teammates.

Celtic remains in negotiations with Norwich City, but there has yet to be a follow-up bid for the player. Norwich might be hesitant to finalize the transfer until the status of Josh Sargent is resolved, as the U.S. international has not yet resumed training.

Celtic’s transfer activity has been relatively limited so far, with only Kasper Schmeichel and Sinisalo joining the squad to bolster the goalkeeping position. The club is also expecting Paulo Bernardo to arrive from Benfica on a permanent deal. However, Celtic is eager to sign additional players to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
