Derby County will continue their 2024 pre-season this weekend with a match against Shrewsbury Town.

As Paul Warne prepares his team for the 2024/25 Championship season, which kicks off on August 9th, Derby have been focusing on integrating several new players into the squad.

The pre-season started positively for Derby with a 3-0 victory over local side Matlock Town. They followed that with a narrow 1-0 win against Stockport County, thanks to a goal from Sonny Bradley. However, their form took a downturn in midweek when they were defeated 4-0 by Chesterfield.

Derby will be looking to get back on track and secure a win when they face Shrewsbury Town at New Meadow at 3pm BST on July 27th.

Derby County’s lineup and updates for the match against Shrewsbury Town

Paul Warne is once again grappling with injury issues at Derby County as they prepare for the new season. Defender Jake Rooney has been ruled out for four months due to a knee injury, which was confirmed on Thursday.

Midfielder Tyrese Fornah is also a doubt for Saturday’s match against Shrewsbury Town after tweaking his knee. Although Fornah is back training, his participation in the game remains uncertain.

On a positive note, Conor Washington, Joel Ward, Dajaune Brown, and Ben Osborn are expected to be available for selection as they recover from minor injuries.

Derby County’s anticipated starting lineup against Shrewsbury Town

Paul Warne has utilized a 3-4-1-2 formation in Derby County’s first two pre-season matches, and it’s likely he will continue with this setup against Shrewsbury Town.

Derby have agreed to a £1.4 million fee for Swedish international Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, but he has yet to join the club. This leaves Josh Vickers as the only senior goalkeeper available for Saturday’s game.

David Ozoh, Derby’s latest signing, started on the bench during the defeat to Chesterfield but could be in line for his first start this weekend. Ben Osborn is also expected to feature as left-wing-back, while Conor Washington is anticipated to play a role in the match against Shrewsbury.
