There will be a Hibs theme to the striker force at Mohun Bagan after Jamie Maclaren signed a deal with the Indian Super League side.

The Australian striker has inked a four-year contract following the expiry of his tenure at Melbourne City. Maclaren, the all-time leading goalscorer in A-League history with 115 goals in 163 appearances, also scored nine times in 30 matches for Hibs.

Joining Maclaren at Mohun Bagan is another ex-Hibs star, Jason Cummings. Cummings moved to Central Coast Mariners in 2022 to rebuild his career after a stint with Dundee in the Premiership ended abruptly. He was sent home from training following a stage appearance at a football show in Glasgow.

Cummings began his career at Hibs, netting 71 times in 149 games and helping the club win the Scottish Cup and the Scottish Championship. His impressive form in the A-League led to a move to India, where he joined Mohun Bagan last year, and will now form a striking partnership with Maclaren. Additionally, former Motherwell defender Tom Aldred has also joined Mohun Bagan after a spell in Australia with Brisbane Roar.

Excited about his next chapter, the 30-year-old Maclaren shared his enthusiasm with the club’s media: “I am proud to have signed for Mohun Bagan. I really cannot wait to get to Kolkata and meet you guys, all my fans, and my new teammates, and also meet some friends I have played with before. Looking forward to a super exciting season. Joy Mohun Bagan!”
