Swansea City faces a challenging start to the 2024/25 Championship season with a long trip to Middlesbrough. After finishing 14th last year, the Swans will need to bolster their squad to improve their standing. While new signings are essential, it’s equally important for manager Williams to offload some players to streamline the squad.

Here are two key deals Swansea City is expected to finalize before the EFL season kicks off on August 9th:

Nathan Tjoe-A-On out

Nathan Tjoe-A-On

Nathan Tjoe-A-On’s stint at Swansea has been disappointing. After his £300,000 move from Excelsior Rotterdam in August 2023, the Indonesian left-back failed to make a single appearance for the team last season. His loan spell at Heerenveen also proved uneventful, with just four substitute appearances totaling 19 minutes.

Currently back at Swansea for pre-season training, Tjoe-A-On didn’t feature in the recent 3-1 win over Swindon Town, despite the use of two different starting XIs. With the Championship season set to start in less than four weeks, it seems likely that Tjoe-A-On could be on his way out without having played a senior match for Swansea.

Swansea City fans will be hoping for significant changes before the season opener against Middlesbrough on August 10th. While Josh Tymon is currently the only senior left-back, and Kristian Pedersen can fill the role, there are uncertainties surrounding Pedersen’s future at the club. Despite this, it’s unlikely that Tjoe-A-On will feature in the squad for the opening match.

Adama Sidibeh in

Adama Sidibeh

St Johnstone striker Adama Sidibeh has been linked with a move to Swansea City, with reports from *The Scottish Sun* indicating that Swansea had a bid for the 26-year-old Gambian turned down.

Sidibeh, who joined St Johnstone in January from Warrington Rylands, has shown promise despite his relatively short stint in Scottish football. He scored five goals in 15 appearances for St Johnstone, a notable achievement considering the team’s 10th-place finish out of 12 in the Scottish Premiership.

Although Sidibeh is not a young prospect, his performance in Scotland suggests he could be a valuable addition to Swansea, especially if he continues to develop as a late bloomer. The question remains whether he can adapt to the Championship level, but his recent form makes him an intriguing option for the Swans.

With Liam Cullen and Mykola Kukharevych currently the only strikers on Swansea’s roster, the club will need to bring in additional attacking options this summer. Signing Adama Sidibeh could address this need, and there’s room for him alongside another striker.

Sidibeh might not be the primary forward Swansea relies on, but he could provide a valuable option off the bench and offer a different style of play compared to Cullen. Despite his relatively modest CV and his recent move from semi-professional football, Sidibeh’s impressive performances at St Johnstone have garnered interest from several clubs, including Swansea, Burnley, Middlesbrough, Blackpool, and Derby. This suggests he’s making a significant impact and could be a worthwhile addition to Swansea’s squad.
