Hibs manager David Gray has commended Elie Youan for focusing on regaining full fitness amidst speculation about his future. Gray, preparing for his first home game as official successor to Nick Montgomery, acknowledged that a popular player will need a scan before being cleared to play again.
Queen’s Park will visit Easter Road tomorrow night for Premier Sports Cup action, following Hibs’ convincing 5-0 victory over Elgin City last weekend. Gray sees this match as an opportunity to ignite early-season excitement.
Addressing concerns about player fitness after today’s training session, Gray mentioned Chris Cadden, Harry McKirdy, and Jake Doyle-Hayes. He also noted that Youan continues to be monitored following his recovery from illness that sidelined him during the season opener.
Despite interest from multiple clubs over the summer, with Hibs reportedly valuing him at over £2.5 million, the French winger remains focused. Gray emphasized that Youan is committed to Hibs and unaffected by transfer speculation.
Regarding injuries, Gray provided an update: “Chris Cadden is awaiting scan results for a quad tightness he experienced against Elgin, so we’re monitoring that closely.”
