Philippe Clement’s recent transfer comments have stirred up conversation among Rangers fans.

The Belgian manager hasn’t held back in addressing Rangers’ faltering transfer window, as anxiety grows over the inadequately prepared squad.

Clement has stated that Rangers cannot fund any new transfer deals until the unwanted players are offloaded.

The Ibrox boss is also unhappy about this situation, saying he had “other expectations” when he took the Rangers job in October.

In the aftermath, discussions have focused on the mismanagement of Rangers’ finances and squad.

As things calm down, Rangers fans will realize that these comments signal a worrying message about one of the club’s main attacking targets this summer.

Sima wants Rangers return

In a Rangers squad that lacked attacking ruthlessness last season, Abdallah Sima’s influence was sorely missed.

The 23-year-old Senegalese forward was signed on a season-long loan from Brighton by Michael Beale and helped keep Rangers afloat up to the mid-way point of the season.

By the winter break, Sima had scored 15 goals, but a long-term injury sustained in training at AFCON with Senegal disrupted Rangers’ season.

This summer, Rangers have made it clear they want Abdallah Sima to return to the club.

Sima has expressed interest in returning and recently hinted at a move on Instagram.

However, with Brighton’s new manager Fabian Hurzeler set to evaluate his squad before making any decisions, Rangers face a waiting game.

In light of Clement’s recent comments, the club cannot currently afford the fees required to sign Abdallah Sima permanently.

Rangers short of Brighton demands

Abdallah Sima is under contract with Brighton until 2025, with an option for an additional year.

This means that Brighton, known for being tough negotiators, hold a strong position.

In 2021, The Athletic reported that Sima joined Brighton from Slavia Prague in a deal worth around £6 million.

However, Sima has yet to play for the Seagulls.

Instead, he has spent time on loan at Stoke City, Angers, and currently Rangers. Reports suggest Brighton is open to selling Sima this summer if the price is right.

Rangers, however, are not in a position to negotiate.

With limited funds and significant rebuilding needed in other areas of the squad, there is a sense of despair at Ibrox.

Additionally, the prospect of Sima not returning to the club adds to the current gloom surrounding Rangers.
