Hibs Hitman Vente Thriving as ‘Real Striker’ Under David Gray After Hat-Trick Heroics Against Elgin

Hibs striker Dylan Vente got his season off to a perfect start with a stunning hat-trick at Borough Briggs in their Premier Sports Cup opener against Elgin City.

The Dutchman, who often played deeper than he preferred last season, is now flourishing under new head coach David Gray. After Hibernian’s 5-0 demolition of the League Two side, the 25-year-old expressed his joy: “5-0 and three goals for myself, that’s a good feeling. We know we have to win these games, and starting with a strong performance after a tough pre-season is great.”

Reflecting on his previous frustrations, Vente added: “Last year was frustrating; I wasn’t playing in my preferred position. But today, I played as a real striker in the box, which is my best position. The new coach has encouraged me to stay high up, and that’s where I know I can score goals. Hopefully, this season will bring more goals.”

Vente also praised his teammate Martin Boyle, who played a pivotal role in creating scoring opportunities: “Boyley is really quick and creative, which is perfect for a striker like me. I enjoy playing with him on either side because he can create something out of nothing.”

As Hibs prepare for their next match against Queen’s Park, Vente is optimistic about continuing his goal-scoring form and contributing to the team’s success in the League Cup group stage.
