Formerly with Hibs until 2022, Paul McGinn has been appointed captain of Premiership rival Motherwell.
McGinn, who played for Hibs from 2020 to 2022 before moving to Fir Park, recently signed a new contract with Motherwell. The captaincy became vacant after Liam Kelly’s departure to Rangers.
Manager Stuart Kettlewell confirmed McGinn as captain, with Stephen O’Donnell named vice captain following their team’s 3-0 victory over Edinburgh City. Kettlewell praised the opposition’s organization and strategy, emphasizing the need for vigilance in competitive matches.
During his time at Hibs, McGinn joined on an 18-month contract from St Mirren in January 2020, alongside his brothers John and Stephen. He also earned a call-up to the Scotland squad, marking a significant period in his career before departing from Hibs by mutual consent following the 2021/22 season.
