Scottish Cup-winning legend John Robertson has expressed his support for the new Hibs manager, David Gray, wishing him success at Easter Road. Gray, 36, recently appointed as the permanent boss, will lead Hibs into the new season following a challenging previous campaign that saw the dismissal of Lee Johnson and Nick Montgomery, with the team finishing 22 points behind rivals Hearts in the bottom six.
Aberdeen also faced a difficult season, and Robertson, a Jambos legend, hopes both clubs can improve for the benefit of Scottish football. He commented, “I’ve been impressed with how David has performed as caretaker boss at Hibs. It’s always challenging when you’re interim because you only have two or three games to demonstrate your capabilities.”
“As soon as he decided to pursue the job on a full-time basis, I’m sure he was eager to make a strong impression. However, he will need to establish a style of play that not only works effectively but also keeps the Hibs supporters happy.”
“Scottish football needs its strongest teams performing at their best. Hibs and Aberdeen were both very disappointing last season. They both aim to finish third or at least be in the top six. For the good of the league and Scottish football as a whole, we need Hibs, the Dons, and both Dundee teams to be strong.”
