Done Deal: Norwich City Complete Signing of Exciting Young Defender Who Emerged as Star at Meadow Lane.

Lucien Mahovo, the talented 19-year-old defender who gained prominence at Meadow Lane, has officially transferred to Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.

Mahovo, who signed his first professional contract with Notts County in December 2022, moves to the Sky Bet Championship after making his league debut on the final day of last season. Speaking to Canaries TV after completing his move, Mahovo expressed his excitement about joining the club. “It’s fantastic; it’s a great club with excellent facilities, and I’m really looking forward to getting started,” he said.

Notts County’s board of directors issued a statement expressing pride in Mahovo’s achievements and the club’s role in his development. “While we’re delighted to see academy graduates like Lucien progress into our first team, we’re also proud of our ability to nurture young talent that attracts interest from higher division clubs. Lucien has progressed well since joining in the 2021-22 season, and this move is well-deserved recognition for him. We are pleased with the terms of the agreement,” the statement read.

The statement also recognized the collective effort involved in Mahovo’s development: “We would like to thank everyone in our academy who contributed to bringing Lucien to the club and nurturing his talent.”

Mahovo’s journey at Notts County began after his time in the academies of Manchester United and Sheffield United, where he initially excelled as a winger. Upon moving to Meadow Lane, he quickly adapted to a central defender role, impressing both fans and coaches.

He signed his professional contract shortly after making his senior debut in an Emirates FA Cup qualifying match against Coalville Town. His experience grew further with a full 90 minutes against Lincoln City in last season’s EFL Trophy and a loan spell at Boston United, before covering for defensive injuries at Forest Green Rovers.

Reflecting on his time at Notts County, Mahovo expressed gratitude: “I absolutely loved my time there; it was a significant part of my life. They took me in when no one else did and shaped me into the player I am today. I’m grateful for the opportunities they provided.”

As he embarks on this new chapter, Mahovo is eager to leverage his loan experiences to make an impact at Norwich City. “The men’s game is very different from Under-21s football, and these loan spells have taught me invaluable lessons. I’m ready to apply them here,” he added.

Now settled at Norwich, Mahovo is looking forward to preseason training. “I’m really excited; the facilities here are fantastic, and I’m eager to start using them. I’m ready to get going whenever,” he remarked.

Notts County extends its best wishes to Lucien Mahovo as he continues his football journey, carrying the Meadow Lane pride with him to new heights.
